Default 6000k HID's installed

I just got around to taking some pics of my HID headlights and foglights. This is the kit off of HIDextra. The install was fairly easy once you get the headlight housing off.

I followed Lancelanz's write up on the install and everything worked great.

https://dodgeforum.com/forum/4th-gen...installed.html

I opted to drill a hole in the headlight plug and run the wires from the ballast through it instead of just leaving it off. It seemed really messy with it off and I was worried about water running into the headlight housing and shorting something out.

I know a lot of guys have been having problems with flickering, FM radio signals, and bad ballasts, but I honestly haven't experienced any of those (maybe I just got lucky). You will however need the capacitor. I tried to run the headlights without it and they would turn on fine when I unlocked the truck, but once I started it they would flicker out. Once I connected the capacitor they ran perfectly. Also does anyone know how hot the capacitor gets? I didn't want to melt any wires so I mounted it next to the ballast.

For those concerned with blinding other drivers, as long as you keep the headlights aimed relatively low it shouldn't be a problem. There is a little more scattered light than the OEM headlights, but its nothing thats going to blind people. My girlfriend drives a mustang without tinted windows and said it wasn't distracting at all when I was behind her.

I'm keeping my stock bulbs in the truck along with a wrench just incase a ballast craps out on me on the highway or something. I know I'm taking a chance with these things but for the price I had to find out for myself and so far its working in my favor... I'll keep you guys updated if anything happens.

I'm not sure... the one I received was covered with a rubber coating.

Maybe the mods should make your walkthrough a sticky. For some strange reason I keep getting emails from people wanting to know how to install HID's. I'm a dick and reply to them to use the SEARCH button.

Installing HID's are a relatively easy upgrade, the hardest parts are doing a firm tug on the grille to get it out and matching the colored wires on the kits that don't have the wires pre-installed in the plug. I'm not that smart and I figured it all on my own.
