Default Interior lights

Is there a ''swtch'' to make the lights turn on when you open the door? Where is it? Like the older trucks used to have a visable switch on the door jamb.I'm trying to hook up Led's to come on and go off when l open or close a door. l tried to wire them to the overhead console but they wouldn't shut off, besides l want them under the seats. Is there an easy way to wire them up? Thanks

The switch is built into the latch mechanism. I wouldn't tap in there as it goes to the computer and controls a lot more things than just the light.

Are you sure you tapped into the courtesy light and not the reading lights? There are 3 wires there so you have to pick the ground and correct hot lead otherwise they will be on all the time.
