Yes. You can unplug it for driving and normally you would. Only reason to leave it plugged in is for data logging.

also, when your figuring things out can you drive with it plugged in and stop and make adjustments etc?

No advantage to leaving it plugged in. It's about a 5 minute process to load a different tune and/or change available options within a tune.
Answers in-line within quote.

I am 2 weeks away from ordering. Would order now but closing on land in a little over a week and want all current funds going into that. Good thing is when I order from summit I usually get it next day with ground shipping as I am only a couple hours away.

If you quick tune, you can't disable MDS. You have to advance tune to disable MDS.

Very easy to update. Download and install the updater. Plug your tuner into USB cord provided with tuner and update. Windows 7 is supported.

You could advance tune and choose Duane's settings below to start off. He's run some good times with these settings. You may have to tweak from here. What one person likes, the other may not.

93 tune
mds off
speed limiter @ 140
rev limiter @ 6400
1-2 wot shift @ 5950
2-3 wot shift @ 5950

What is the difference in the Cortex over the flashpaq? I assume they do the same thing as far as the program, what makes the Cortex better (more money)?

93 Performance gains +25 HP and +30 ft/lbs. TQ to the rear wheels for the 2009 trucks.

91 Performance gains 17 HP and 26 ft/lbs. TQ to the rear wheels for the 2004-2008 trucks.

The biggest difference between the two is, Cortex offers a two year power train warranty. Same tuning for both units.

Thanks for the information, I just ordered one. It sucks we have a Cabella's in Utah, so I had to pay tax, but it still is the cheapest I have found. Moe's performance was close at $330 with free shipping.
