Default Small Rust Spot on Chrome Bumper

I have a small rust spot on my chrome bumper. Is there anything I can do to stop it from spreading and getting bigger? I don't know how it got started. There is no chip or anything. I thought it might have been from a rock or something but there is nothing there.

Chrome rusts, its a fact of life. Its not because Chrysler is Cheap. They do use methods to temporarily inhibit rust, but there is no 100% guarantee it will never happen. It is inevitable. Resistance is futile. Here's some good reading on the subject:

Thanks everyone. First vehicle with any chrome on it. I knew chrome rusted but I didn't think it would happen so fast. Going out tomorow to get some chrome polish.
Thanks for the link Secret. Some good reading. Going to try the lemon juice to get rid of the rust spot. I'll let you all know how it works.

The rust is simply corrosion. The metal in the bumper chemically reacts with moisture and the form of corrosion is the rust you see. The only way to stop it is to remove the rust with a semi abrasive material, careful not to scratch up the whole bumper. Next you need to apply a corrosion inhibitive compound specifically designed to do so. You can go online or to an automotive parts store and ask for the correct corrosion preventive compound. There are several different types and levels depending on the type of corrosion and application. I work in army aviation and we spend millions each year on corrosion prevention. A good website for information is www.nace.org. Hope this helps.

A new truck should not have any rusted chrome. So, "get over it" will not cut it on this end.

I would pester the dealer day and night for the repair, until they did something.

I always thought rust was due to gaseous elements (air) and not from moisture?
