I was very surprised. I dropped it off and the next evening he called and said that he was going to get me another one. He asked me to give him a few days to deal with crysler and try to get them to help, but he assured me that I wouldn't get stuck with the "messed up" truck.

Here is my story with my dealer. I took my truck in to have my tailgate handle looked at because it got pushed out when I loaded my snowmobile and scratched my bed. I took it in and they said that the rods were bent that go from the handle to the latches. I asked them to see if they could straighten them out, and they did the best they could. About a week or so later when I washed my truck, I found that they just pounded on the rods while they were in my tailgate. In the process they, put two indent below my handle which caused my paint to chip. I took it back and they looked at it and told me to take it to ANY auto body place of my choice ( since they don't have one )and have it fixed and they would cover the bill. So I also asked them what it would cost to replace the two rods. They told me don't worry about it, they would cover them under warranty. What a deal, I thought.

So let me get this straight they played mechanic monkey on your rods, damaged the tailgate sheet metal and now they want to just replace the rods and pay for body work, I would push for a new tailgate, wouldn't be damaged if they would of just replaced the rods in the first place and performed 5 star service, they may not want to go this route but I would pursue, when you have something in for warranty, make them replace it if at all possible. I had a dealership damage my steering wheel leather on my 02 ram, I heard the mechnics squawking back in forth before I got it back, who did this to the black truck, someones in trouble kinda thing, well I got my truck went over it and seemed okay, went home and found a gouge in the leather under the back of the wheel, next day back for a brake sensor brought it up, and they first played stupid, then acted like no big deal or a scar of victory and wanted to give me a cover, finally after pushing they replaced the dam thing.

I thought about that, but the rods would of never been dented and the latch would of never been pushed out if it wasnt for me. I was the one who damaged both of them when loading my snowmobile, not to mention the nice grooves I cut in my tailgate from my studs on my sled spinning across it. So actually I think it is a pretty good deal, there paying for my mess up. To lighten up there mess up, the 2 dents they put in it are about the size of the end of a pen, and about 3" apart. Not a big deal, but a deal none the less, since they chipped the paint.

Just curious, I can understand the blades marking the tailgate, but I can't figure out how you damaged the rods inside the tailgate and pushing the tailgate latch mech. out by loading a smowmobile.

Well I have 96 studs in my track. When I loaded it, it didn't make it all the way into the box. So I had to feather the throttle and pull the sled onto the truck. As I was doing that, I slipped just as the sled made it into the truck. The sled stopped as it hit the front of my box, but my hand was on the throttle yet. The track spun on the tailgate. IT broke the rear spoiler off. I don't know if that caused the sled to hop and and indent the tailgate and that caused the rods to bend or what. Don't know for sure.
