Default Heater - Rear Vents

I know I have heard that the A/C in the Crew Cabs don't work well, however, tonight when my son was in the back and said he was cold, I checked the vents for heat and didn't feel ANYTHING. Anybody else expereince this or do I need to take it to the dealer. I have a 2010 Laramie CC.

They blow pretty well if you have it in manual and select the floor vents, not much comes out on auto.

Turn on the heated rear seat if he's out of cars seats, no complaints from my kids with the seat heaters

The warm air will come out through the rear floor vents under the seat only. Cold air will exit through the rear console vents when cold air temperature is selected.

"The warm air will come out through the rear floor vents under the seat only. Cold air will exit through the rear console vents when cold air temperature is selected."

Really?!?!? Thats got to be the stupidest design I have heard if thats true. The rear vents in the back console are ONLY for A/C. The warm air that you say comes from under the seat, is that the "heated seats" or are there other vents I am not seeing.

Flat vents at floor level under the front seats. Same way most cars do rear seat heat. #2 & 5 in the diagram.

I have noticed when using heat I cannot get floor heat without defrost heat. I don't like heat in my face, but no matter where you put the selector switch, it will always blow heat through either the vents or the defrost. I cannot get floor heat alone.
Also the selector dial has "in between" settings. I don't get it.

Have your dealer check out the vent door operation. You should be able to get floor heat only - my truck does it properly.

I personally like the design. I don't like warm air blowing at my face, prefer it on my feet only. Unfortunately it doesn't help if your a kid in the back seat and your feet don't hang low enough to feel the air from the floor vents.
The defroster vents in the front will always have some bleed air coming through even if floor vents only are selected. It's for safety reasons in order to keep the windshield from fogging up. I'm a Mercedes Tech and this is the way Mercedes has done it for decades. I've noticed quite a few Mercedes design features that have found there way into the Ram as a result of the Daimler Chrysler merger.

I knew that Daimler still had some decent plans in the works.
