Anyone have the Raptor side steps
These are the ones i have and really like them so far. Seem to be good quality and install was very easy. I thought they should have added and extra brace in the middle instead of just one on the front and one in the back but they seem to be sturdy enough and very secure. I got mine from www.truckaddons.com for a little over $300 and free shipping so i think it was a good deal.

I had the 4 inch oval tubes on my truck and had them taken off after 2 days when I started getting a thumping sound when going over bumps. The dealer had not properly installed them but when I examined the installation instructions I saw that it is bad design causing the rear rubber cab mounts to be squashed down eliminating all possible movement and thereby compromising their proper functioning. The problem is when they turn the damper upside down to attach the bracket as indicated on pages 3 and 4 of the installation instructions. I even purchased all of the related components from Dodge to better understand what was going on.
The bolts they use, grade 8.8, to mount the tube steps replace the Dodge cab mounting bolts, grade 10.9, on 4 out of the 6 cab mounts are of lesser quality than stock ones.
I would suggest you stay away from them as far as you can. Get the Dodge ones or ones that don't monkey around with the cab mounting.
The only good thing about them is the fact that they are made of stainless steel.
If anyone needs more info I'll make a drawing to demonstrate my point.
If I had less of a conscience I would resell them to someone but as it stands I will make a mount similar to what Dodge makes or scrap them and take a, 600$ Canadian, hit. The dealer won't take them back because as far as he is concerned there is nothing wrong with them and I didn't give him a chance to correct his installation mistake.

No thumping sounds with mine but i installed them myself so i know they are put on correctly. Mine are also the 5" so they may be different...dont know...i just know i like them and are happy with them.
I bought the 5" oval, and love them. Never had any problems with bumping or thumping noises. I installed them myself, so I know it was done right. I also went to the local Fastenal and bought all new stainless bolts for the mounting hardware. I also have a co-worker who bought the 5" for his new silverado and he loves his also. The reason I like mine so much is because unlike the other brands out there, there is more stainless and less of the cheap plastic crap on them. Anyway thats opinion of them.
