On my Laramie, w/memory pedals and seat that grey connector is Not open. I'm not sure what's connected to but it is connected to something.
Alrighty then if I were to happen to have the wiring connector that goes into that blue plug which I do, I found one. My only concern is which controller can I use that is small enough to fit in that pocket and all the controls are on the front at least the ones that need regular changes. Does the 09 with the old type connector still running thru the canbus system that is what I am wondering about do I have to buy a controller that works with the can bus...man I am getting ready for the short bus to pick me up. No offence to anyone, I have a brother in law and a niece who both well to make a long story short ride the short bus. You know what while I am on that they are the only 2 people that I know that never miss work. It is incredible my brother in law gets upset when they make him take his 4 weeks vacation then when its time to go back to work forget that. LOL
None of the aftermarket controllers use the Can Bus. They will just plug into the blue connector. Some brands will even offer their own harness so that you don't have to do anything other than plug it in. Tekonsha and Hayes both so, I'm sure a lot of others also.
On the fitment, there really aren't any proportional controllers that have everything up front. They all seem to have the emergency lever on the bottom. But due to the angle of the pocket area, that is not really too bad of an issue as it can still be made to be exposed. Tekonsha does offer a controller with all the controls up front but it is time delayed instead of proportional. I am partial to the proportional models though.
My recommendation would be to go with a P3 or Hayes G2. The P3 is a cleaner unit but the shape of the Hayes might be a little easier to deal with. The Prodigy has some adjustments on the top so it will not fit as tightly to the dash. I'm not too hopeful that someone will make a custom fit model.
The problem I am currently trying to figure out is how to cover up the area on the sides of the controller to make it look more neatly installed. The controllers available are not as wide as the factory pocket opening so you have a gap on the sides. Same thing with the bezel.

I already had a prodigy controller from my prior truck and installed it in the cubby bezel.
My plan is to use some epoxy putty or JB Weld to fill the gaps between the bezel and the prodigy mount bracket. Maybe toothpick in some simulated grain and then paint the filler.
The putty and JB Weld are fairly easy to work with a wet finger but some of you guys may have a better idea.
Anyone?
p.s. Does anyone make a dirt colored floor mat with debris specks. My charcoal ones are a bitch to keep clean!!!
