thinking of jumping ship!
Your right on.
I have been keeping my trucks for too short of a time in the last ten years. This new truck I want to make it the truck to use for at least ten years, I take too good a care to sell it off after 3-4 years, I won't be looking at resale this time around as a deciding factor.

as far as the truck sagging with anything hitched to, I would have to say no! hook up my 6800lb boat/trailer with over 300lbs on the tongue and it still sits above level. I had a 3rd gen 02, and 04, and wife has a 05 G.caravan, all have been great, no issues (esp. the GC with all the gizmos). As far as rusting, I know the 2nd gens had problems, none on vehicles I owned. At the end of the day, you buy the vehicle that makes you happy, and outfit that way so when you write that check once a month theres no misgivings, and all will be well. As far re-sale, nothing does good on resale anymore really, sorry. Vehicle models change like underwear nowadays.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the sheet metal on these trucks are incredibly thin. I was on a step stool leaning over the fender to wash my hood and had my keys in my pocket, when I dried off the truck I noticed two little dents on the fender that look like bottom edge of the key fob. I'm not a heavy guy either, but there is no excuse for metal that thin.
I use the truck for construction and have been very satisfied. My biggest complaint is the key fob, but my wife's Mercedes has the exact same key fob as the Dodge and she has issues with her fob. My second recommendation is the 6' 5'' bed needs an additional inch so I can load 2x4's at an angle and still be able to close the tailgate ( The Fords bed enables me to put 2x4's on an angle). I had close to 1700 lbs in the bed without any problem, this is the best truck on the market.
I replaced an 07 loaded 2500hd 4x4 GMC crew cab duramax with this 2010 Laramie crew cab 4x4 with a hemi.
The Duramax was the best pickup I ever owned, but once I sold my big trailer the turning radius and terrible city mileage was no fun for a daily driver. I wouldnt say the sheetmetal was any thicker on the GMC thats for sure, I left two dents on the roof from my elbows cleaning the sunroof glass when I first bought it, I also dented the hood cleaning the windshield as well.
Aside form the usual GM stuff, steering clunk, seat leather cracking, rear end only 1/2 full when new, idler arm wearing out and tail lights falling out it was a trouble free 55K miles.
So far I like the Dodge, but unlike a lot of people I dont expect it to be perfect, I have owned 4 new GMC trucks since 2001 and I just wanted a change. My last new Dodge pickup was 1995 and except for a few transmissions and an a/c evaporator it was a decent truck and I kept it for 5 years.
Mine just turned 6000 miles, no issues at all really, the trans does do some weird stuff at times but its pretty typical for an electronic trans. Certainly not scaring me from towing anything thats for sure. Ride is by far the best to me out of the big three, heated steering wheel and rear seats is nice, dash is well laid out too, its just what I consider a nice truck. My main reason for buying it was it was almost an even trade for my dmax, no GM or Ford dealer even came close to the deal I got on this for similar options.
My complaints are the blower motor is always making noise, not a 'bad' blower motor noise but its always running wihen on auto and you can hear it. I also have the 'clunk' on hard takeoffs a lot of people complain about, supposedly rear trailing arm wrap-up, learning to live with it. I didnt like the plastic covered wheels at first but Lincolns and Cadillacs use the chrome clad wheels too, I think they will look good for a while and seem to clean up easy - time will tell.
My paint is a little crappy compared to some other new cars/trucks I have had, not the worse but its a little annoying on a 45K anything. As far as resale when dodge gives 10K off sticker to just about everyone its hard to even look at the sticker price for reference, these do seem to take a huge hit come trade in time.

I traded in a 08 GMC Sierra with 11,500 miles on it for my 09 Ram. If that tells ya anything. The GMC was a good truck but had a ton of nuesence problems that were fixed under warranty. The Ram, nothings (so far). 5.3 vs Hemi, Ram wins again. Looks, come on now...Dodge, Interior.. Dodge. I'm happy with my trade!
There is a way to download the songs from the harddrive when the radio needs to be replaced. The dealer should know how to do it. Just needs the scan tool StarScan or WiTech and a usb memory stick
I have only had my Ram for abt a week but I traded my 2009 Hummer H2 for it and could not be happier. I had an 07 Sierra Denali with the 6.2 before the H2 and I like the Ram MUCH better than either. The interior is just put together much better than GM trucks imo. With the Denali and the H2 there were so many loose fitting, squeaky parts(door panels etc). The GM 6.2 is a beast but it is bogged down with soooo much tq management its not even funny. The Hemi feels much more responsive. Then there is the ride, I love the way the Dodge rides, soo much better than the Denali. I also had a LOT of small but annoying problems with both GM trucks I owned. Hell, three out of four door handles came off in my hand when opening the doors on the Denali!!!
Anyway I will not buy a GM truck again. This is my first Dodge and I love it!! Granted it's only a week or so old, time will tell I suppose.

How are the dodge trannies holding up?
