Default just bought a Ram last weekend couple of questions....

I received a letter in the mail saying that a local dealership was offering 12K off MSRP on all four door rams. I went up to check it out and ended up leaving with a 2010 crew cab black hemi 4X4. When all was said and done I was out the door with tax title and license for $29,500 which I thought was a heck of a deal. It is the SLT model so it doesn't have all the bells and whistles but I love the truck. I am in the bad habit of not researching items I buy until AFTER I buy them but I have been reading every night about the Dodge and the other major brands and I can objectively say I believe I bought the best truck! I have enjoyed these forums and have been lurking since the first night I bought it. Well probably more information than anybody carees for so I will cut to the chase. A couple of things I am wishing I had got on the truck but didn't are dual exhaust and foglights. The dealer quoted me $380 for foglights installed and another place quoted me $425 for flowmaster dual exhaust. The flowmaster claimed I would get 2 miles more per gallon. Any truth to that? Advantages and disadvantages of having this done? I know zero about cars so any input would be appreciated. It wouldn't void the warranty or anything like that would it? Also, what would you guys get first the foglights or the exhaust? I am leaning towards the exhaust.

congrats ..

the factory fog light quote for 'non factory fog light bumpered' trucks is high ..

you can buy the factory fog light kit online for like $134 plus shipping ..

steve white motors online ..

Item Number MSRP Core Price Price 82211694AB $175.00 $0.00 $134.20

that includes the bulbs .. once installed you DO have to have the computer flashed to turn the fogs on when you hit the switch ...

most have been quoted 225 installed .. which is reasonable .. dont pay more than $250 installed and reflashed .. anymore than $250 and you are paying to much ..

as far as the dual exhaust is concerned .. if you get it, don't do it for gas savings .. do it for sound and performance .... and if you do save money on gas, its a bonus .. however i can not comment on mileage performance .. so i dunno ..

OK thanks for the reply. Sounds like I need to call around on the foglights. The dual exhaust guy told me I needed to get a hemi specific flowmaster or it would be way too incredibly loud. I am not really wanting extremely loud I just like the way they look. Maybe just a little bit louder would be nice.

I think flowmaster is full of crap regarding mpg gains. It will sound cool. That's about it imo.

Best fog lights I've ever had on a vehicle. I'm trying to find a deal on duals also but finding a used painted bumper for my TRX aint EZ.

just throwing this out there but mpg consider a cold air intake. I have an 01 5.9 SLT & it gave me 2mpg in the city & 4 on the highway. I'm getting a new (used) truck here shortly & plan to do this...i don't think there are any gotcha's for the Hemi in the cai...unlike the oil thing.

This truck has a huge air filter and tons of air gets in. I would bet that in a real world situation like I did on my 03 Durango, I spent a ton on a KN CAI and well they claimed 10to15 hp and 3 mpg, I got less mileage and well I don't have a Dyno but there was a bit more feeling in the seat when I went WOT but I think the extra noise like sounding like a Supercharger was all I really got.
So 400 bucks for a CAI will take a long time to get your money back. Fog lights? Is there a lot of fog in your area you going for function or looks,I like those after marker fog lights better than the ones that come on the corners. For the price get the fog lights first cuz there are other things you are gonna want before a cai or exhaust, you watch.

Get a Magnaflow. Flowmasters do not flow as well and will rust much faster.
