I bought my 2009 RAM 8v Crew Cab, and after less then a month I started hering a clicking sound comming from the passanger Floor Air vent. Here is how I make the sound happen. (It can be interminint and usaly only when I'm driving.)

1. Turn the Blower on Full
2. Turn the *** to Full Floor
3. Turn the Heat on Full

When I do this I hear a flicking sound. The best way to decribe it is it sounds like you put a playing card in the spokes on a bicycle.

The first thing I did was go right back to the dealer so he could hear it (witch he did and said "Yes I hear it! There is some thing not right.") Then he said "Drive it for a wile and see if it gose away." So I drove it for a month and it's was still there so I brought it in and thay said "it's the Blower Moter" so they ordered one. I went back in and they replaced it. After leaving (not even gone 1 hour) me and my wife herd it again and when right back to the dealer. He said they took the New blower back out and it looks and sounds fine. Then when I told him how I reproduced it. He said it was a door opning and closing to let in fresh air... and it was normal. I don't now of a door takes 10 min to open and clicks the hole time...

Have any other people had this problem?
Can any one try this in therre truck and see if it makes the sound?

I don't think this can be normal... ?

Thanks,

I assume the door they are talking about is the one in the back of the cab that equalizes the pressure when you shut the doors. Is the noise louder in the middle of the back seat?

The HVAC system uses small elctric motors to open and close the vents. It is most likely one of them. You should be able to feel which one it is.

I had the same noise for a few days, then it went away for awhile, now it's back- only when set to the floor vents, mostly hear it from the passenger side. not real sure what it is.

Is there something in the vent? Maybe a leaf or piece of paper? Look where the air is coming out and see if you can see anything behind the grate? Just a thought?

I has a similer problem with my last new Car and it was a pice of plactic from when it was maid bouncing around in the vend. But this sound is differnt the other one was random this sound is the same flicking in the same intervoltes.

It's a really obvious sound, even if the volume on the radio is 10 you can still hear it...

It sucks because this is a bran new ruck and I don't want t ohave this sound for the life of my truck. but if the dealer can't fix it then what am i supos to do...

So, I called Dodge head office and long story shorter... I when to different dodge serves center. Thank God the Mechanic herd the sound! He worked on it for 2 hours and couldn't fix it... He said the next step is to remove my hole dash (witch is a 4+ hours job!) but I'm scared, because last time I had a company remove my dash in my last new vehicle, they messed it all up! scratched it and had to paint it and the car was only 2 weeks old...

Have any of you needed to have your dash removed under warranty? and did it get scratched?

I saw this post and i was curious, so just went out and tried what you said above. My is smooth and clean I don't hear anything, so something is not normal there. You are going to have to live with it as long as nice air stream is coming out or pull the dash if that is what dodge says. If so I would prob just pull the dash and get it fixed. I would be kinda worried of that going down too, but least dodge is doing it.
