Default Replaced my Mufflex 14 with a Flowmaster 40

I finally got tired of the Mufflex getting loose every couple of weeks and rattling like crazy on start up. The Mufflex also leaking like a sieve around all the bolt on joints. The inlet to the muffler and the pipe going back toward the front of the truck was black so much exhaust was escaping. For $30 I could have just had the muffler shop weld it on, but I was pissed at that point and just decided to scrap the whole thing and go with a Flowmaster Super 40 instead.

The 40 is slightly louder than the Mufflex 14, but not by much. It seems to be louder during start up and general tooling around town. Surprisingly though, I think the Mufflex was louder at wide open throttle.

I've said it before but I guess one more time couldn't hurt. The mufflex is a pretty bad deal when you could get the muffler and have a shop bend some pipe and weld it in for less than the cost of it.

True. If you're looking for the quickest and cheapest route, then you can't beat a local muffler shop. Main reason I went with the Mufflex was so that if I ever got tired of the muffler, then in 20 minutes I could have the stock one back on without even leaving the driveway. The Mufflex was a pain to buy (waited forever for it) and then a pain to torque down every couple of weeks. In the end I did what I should have done from the start.

I haven't had any issues from my muffles 14". The only reason I am considering a different one is I want it LOUDER!

i went to a local muffler shop and bought my 40 series installed out the door for$186 and they even had to cut the passenger tip off and shorten the pipe so it would line back up in the factory spot.
