Default Hemi eating a bit of oil.

I checked the oil today after 1000 miles and I noticed that the oil level was about 1/4 of an inch lower than last time. I dont remember noticing this with any other vehicle. I used 5w-20 mobil 1 synthetic extended life. Ill say at first when I put it in it felt great. Now the motor feels kind of sluggish. Thinking about going back to regular oil but I spent so much on this oil change I dont want to just waste it. I know I was told you CAN go back to regular oil after synthetic but I was wondering if yall had any Ideas on what yall would do.

Get used to using up the oil no matter what you do....I notice it loses about 1.5 qts at 3500 mile intervals on Valvoline Synthetic.

Alright cool. My 2000 4runner bearly ate any and it had 146k. This motor has 19k so I was a bit surprised. My old fox body would eat oil like crazy but it was rebuilt so many times that's different lol. I'm also deff going to a less expensive synthetic if it's gonna eat oil like this.

If you search ANY new car/truck forum 25% of the people will say they use a quart every 1000 miles and some will say they can go 10000000000000000000 miles and not use a drop. if you are between the two you are OK.

All engines use oil, some worse than others. .5-1 quart between 4K changes is nothing to be alarmed over.

I've been suprised that mine doesn't seem to use any noticible amount of oil.

Mine has 145,ooo and it always is a quart low when I go to change it, but has never been lower than a quart, doesnt smoke, or leak, just vanishes, I use castrol high mileage and it seems to work very well with the truck, I change about every 3000 miles, or so.

Ill fill it up tonight. See exactly how much was used and then check the next 1000 miles to see if its consistent. If it is, I will plan to do an oil change at 3000k and put Casterol edge or synthetic blend to see if it helps at all with the oil consumption and also the tick while im at it.

Out of curiosity, why do you think using synthetic would result in less oil consumption?
