Need help deciding
I've got two trucks on my short list. The first is a 2010 Ram 1500 SLT crew cab 4x4 with the 5.7 Hemi, cloth interior, shift on column and split bench. The second is a 2010 F150 Lariat Super Crew 4x4 5.4L Triton with leather interior.
I've never owned a Ram. I drove the Ram tonight and it was powerful and smooth, I like the stuff they've done with interior storage options too. The Ram seems to have a poor reputation from a reliability standpoint. JD Power ranks it very low in predicted reliability, quality and overal performance and design.
From those that drive them every day, what are your thoughts? Are there reliability problems with these trucks?
It seems like perhaps the 2009 and 2010 models are changing for the better and that it might be a few years before this gets reflected in the JD Power surveys.
Any insight is greatly appreciated. I'm going to pull the trigger on one of these trucks this week. I need all the info I can get.

its your choice. read the reviews. Buy what you like. Ive seen tests showing Ram as number 1 an the f-150 as number 4. Ive driven both and I own the Dodge and I think you get more for your money with the dodge. Not may people here are gonna tell you to buy a ford F150. Personally i think the tailgate on the F150 is ugly, looks cheap and reminds me of a Chrysler Pacifica. Its still a good truck, i was just not whiling to pay 16k more for a comperable truck and good thing, I love my truck.
I think if you can get a lariat for the same price as a SLT do it. I looked for and considered the top three pick ups when I bought the dodge. I bought the dodge because the features and options. Ford and Chevy prices for a compareable truck were $4-6K more.
I got $9K off the sticker and all the options I wanted on a truck.

Look all manufacturers today have their good and bad, all have a few lemons, as far as dodge being low reliability I would say BS, owned 4 in 10 years and they have all been reliable. 2002 3rd gen. owned until 36k had a brake sensor and cruise control switch fixed, 2004 owned 61/2 years crank/cam sensor replaced at 78k, 04 grand caravan now has 79k no issues, and a 4th gen with 17k+ no issues mechanically/electonically. In the end buy the vehicle set up the way you want overall with the value and feel you love, cause when you make that payment or pull up to something else next to you, you don't want to have any regrets, So like I'm saying buy the RAM.

I'd try to get the sport package if you like front bucket seats and a huge center console. The sport trim has a few more bells and whistles for about the same price (I actually priced it for slightly less factory order) then a SLT with big horn/lone star.
From what I understand, the Fords have nice interior quality, exterior looks are subjective. A nice trim on the Ram also gives you great interior (sport or laramie). I think the factor I would consider is the engine. The 5.7 Hemi puts out more power and torque then the 5.4 ford. So, if power is your thing, go with the Ram.
Also, what completly sold me on Ram was the coil spring rear suspension. No other truck has it. And it makes a HUGE difference in ride quality.
Another tip, buy it this month during truck month. I did a factory order. I placed the order on 3/4 and got a ship date of 3/25 (not too bad). I also got a little over 9k off MSRP.

For me it was down to the F150 & the Ram too. I ended up choosing the Ram because I could get so much more bang for my buck. I could not be happier that I chose Dodge- I see the Fords around a lot and my Ram is such a sexy truck and the F150 are just kinda "meh" in my opinion.
Man is that Hemi powerful too

The 5.4 Triton is a dog of a motor and the Hemi will run's circles around it. Also, I owned a 2006 F150 and a 2008 F350 and I can tell you hands down my new Ram is more refined than both. I have not looked over the new F150 but after owning 2 Fords I switched back to Dodge.
