Anyone use the Mufflex 24 single exhaust. I want the truck to wake up in terms of sound. However I drive a lot of miles on the freeway and don't want that dreaded drone. So I was thinking the 24 or possibly the 18. Any one done it to their single exhaust truck!

I have the 24 on my dual exhaust, I know you said single but you may be the first on here to do that, anyway it is the perfect exhaust for the dual sysytem. You can hear it up through the gears and at highway speed it is pratically gone. IMO it is the perfect exhaust because I do not like the drone in the cab either, especially at highway speeds.

I've got the single 24". It is quite the nice balance and I don't get the irritating/headache inducing drone at cruising speed (65-80). But I never forget it's not stock while cruising - only because the cab is so quiet with the stock setup. Love how it 'barks' when I start it (rattles the house) and especially when I drop the hammer.

I drive back and forth between Phoenix and L.A. (400 miles each way) on a regular basis and the exhaust note is always at a comfortable frequency - hope that makes sense. Even listening to Sirius' Coffee House channel at low (nap time) volume, will easily overcome the exhaust and you'd never know you had the Mufflex.

If you do decide on a Mufflex, just be sure to tighten with a cheater bar, and re-tighten a week or two later after it "cures" some from the heat/cool cycles - just MHO.

I paid a total of $261.50. Don't know what they're going for now, but I talked to Denny at Mufflex, because the single 24" wasn't listed on the website (atleast not when I ordered it). I'm quite satisfied with mine.

Before you buy the mufflex kit go to your local Magnaflow muffler shop and see if they can get you the same magnaflow muffler. The shop I went to said they could have got it for me and installed it for about $275 welded. Would have saved me $100 bucks. I had mine welede so I would not have to worry about any leaks or clamps falling off that seem to plague this system. Check it it before you overspend. Goodluck

Won't argue with pdavis, but remeber that most shops don't carry stainless - if that is important to you. Also, if you decide you don't like the Mufflex, easy enough to remove and bolt the stock back on. Lastly, if you do like the Mufflex and are concerned about it loosening up, you can get it tacked/welded after the fact.
The "safest" way to determine if the 24" is for you is to get the Mufflex - it's easily reversible.

AZDave,, Just curious, did you notice any change either way in fuel economy? I think I am about to buy the 24" mufflex and was curious.

Good point. After all that is one of the reason's I bought my mufflex kit. I just sort of freaked after I ordered the kit and then I read about all of the muffler's falling off and coming loose. So I went ahead and had it welded in place.

Mileage difference? Negligible. No difference in performance or economy that I've noticed. Pure aesthetics.
