Default 4wd shakes truck & sometimes wont ingage??

Ok i just picked up my truck after putting a 6" lift on it. Its a 09 1500. 2wd runs great works like a champ. 4wd when starting out shakes the whole truck back and forth also sometimes it wont engage. I picked the truck up just as they closed so i cant not get it back to them till maybe tomorrow afternoon. Now its snowing here so i only have 2wd. Any ideas what would cause this to happen or any tips that could be a quick fix?

Thanks Chad

WOW This is the first lifted truck I have heard of doing this. Most of us with leveling kits have this problem. Dont know what to say.

My truck is a factory height 09 Hemi 4x4 w/20s and it shakes from the get go after I engage the 4x4 mode. It never gives me a problem with engaging just the shake. Im having the dealer take a look at it.

I put a 6" superlift on it. Its a 2009 Rom Ram 1500 as far as the transfercase goes i have no clue what it is. It has 3.92 geaars if that helps. Also once i get past 10 to 15 miles per hour the shake is gone. When my truck was stock it did not do this at all.

Well I am reading so many problems with levelled and lifted trucks. Maybe this truck is just meant to leave stock in this instance, I think Dodge figured it's high enough off the ground when you can go under it with a creep and a fat belly and not have to jack it up. I understand modding and changing to your preference but when you start making an undsafe truck for the road then I have to say maybe ya gotta draw the line somewhere. If you are doing all this lifting for purpose then go for it and figure out how to do it safely and so the truck is functional. If for looks then don't bother since it seems to be an expensive prospect to get it done right so it works right.JMHO

6" lift, I'd check the front u-joint angles and see if they are either maxed out or not equal

I have had no issues with my lift, that is why I went with the Dodge kit, installed at the dealer. If there were issues, it would be on them, not me.

It is wierd though how some trucks have issues, and others don't with the same kit. You would think it should work on all of them, or none.

Some kits were having issues with the auto 4wd transfer case; i believe its the nvg243, maybe the 246 ( heading out the door so will check later )

Superlift was one of the kits that wasnt having issues though so i would check the angles on your front ujoints; better yet take it back to the installer and have them look it over. Probably just a bad install

This is the first problem I've heard of with a real lift kit. They may have forgot to install the transfer case index ring or transmission drop bracket if that lift is equipped with either of those. Maybe crawl under it and have a quick visual to make sure they didn't leave anything loose. As far as the shift issue the only thing that is modified is the harness to the front axle disconnect is extended or the transfer case requires removal to install the index ring.
