Default Mud Flaps

So today I took off the factory mud flap and was shocked to see that all four of them have now left a 8" scratch on every corner of my truck. Tomorrow I am calling the dealer to see if they will fix it but I am not getting my hopes up.

I would also recommened that anyone that has these flaps on thier truck take them off and not just because of the scratches. I just washed my truck before removing them and found a packed mud in each flap just waiting to rust the fenders.

Well I had the dealer install mine so if they are scratched or rust it is gonna be their problem. No mud filling up in there on mine....do you baha or dust drive down dirt roads what reason would mud be in there.

If you drive in mud, it gets packed in behind anything, even the factory fender liners. I'm assuming you have the little molded mud flaps since you say they are scratching the body.

I have the same problem with my wife's truck and it is only driven on the hwy. I am also taking her truck to the dealer to have it looked at. Let me know what yours has to say.

I had the molded mud flaps on my 08 1500 QC. They were on for a year and a half, when I took them off there was NO paint damage but they where half filled with sand (I do a lot of beach driving). So when I got this truck I opted for the heavy duty rubber flaps instead.

good .. i also have the heavy duty rubber flaps . i like mine a lot ...

when i screwed the front flaps into the fender, i predrilled, then when screwing the screws into the fender, i dabbed a nice goober of black rtv silicone between the fender and flap to prevent rust .. i hope this helps .. its more than most would do ..

I have made numerous warnings about this in many threads, most of it goes un-noticed. Maybe people will pay a little more attention now. Sorry about your truck, but maybe it will help someone else.

All you need is the clear body tape behind them and you get no marks on the body. Been repeated over and over.

That's exactly what I did. Took a little time, but hope it pays off.
