So I am getting ready ( 3 months out) to pack up the family and drive 2,000 miles with the wife, kid, dog, and two cats. I will be towing my wifes forster (3,300lbs) loaded to the gills with stuff. Then more stuff in the truck bed. I am guessing around 5,500lbs total. I know these trucks are rated for 8,500lbs towing. But rated and real world are different. Are there any mods you guys recommend to enhance the towing experience ie trailer brake, air bags ect. Bottom line If I am driving 2,000 miles I better get something out of it for the truck!

 

Should be fine. I've towed a bunch more weight than that cross country with the bed loaded, 3.21's and 5 people in the truck.
