Sorry, No 6.4 Hemi for the HD's.
I just saw this article http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2...t-for-ram.html and it looks like the 5.7 will be the only Hemi in the heavy duty's for now. At least it mentions that a smaller Cummins might be in the works for the diesel lovers out there.
If you are looking for more power a diesel makes more sense than a 6.4 anyhow. You are not buying a HD to go racing (not that you should be buying a 1500 for that either), you buy one for hauling and pulling. You need the diesels torque.
The HD doesn't need a bigger gas motor. The benefits of decreased gas mileage to minimal increased towing capacity is unnecessary. I love my NON MDS 5.9 Hemi it hauls everything I could ever need it to and more. O ya and it doesn't have MDS did I mention that? Haha sorry had to rub it in.

i was at the marketing launch for the new HDs today and theyre real happy with the 5.7 right now...no discussion of a new gas engine. however, with the ram offering 390 and 383 from the hemi and now chevy, ford, and toyota all have more powerful gas engines, i expect something from ram brand in the next year or so. ive been told by a contact inside chrysler that all of the ram hemi mules right now are "making over 400bhp". he said that the dyno tests he has seen have been all over the place but every single one was over 400...according to him.
