Default Help on exhaust

I have a 09 Ram TRX4. Reading back through the post on exhaust's I have learned quite a bit. I want to be able to hear the Hemi under the hood but do not want it to be to the point of obnoxious. I have ruled out dual cat-back after talking to four different muffler shops and reading about the drone that would result from doing that. I am thinking of either putting in a 18" Magnaflow and removing the resonator or just having the resonator removed . As you can guess the different shops have given me different opinions on what to do. All pretty much agree not to go with duals on the 5.7 Hemi, one says to only remove the resonator..he wants $260 for that with all new tubing and a 3" stainless tip. Another one will charge $60 to remove the resonator only. The other quote was to go with a 18" magnaflow w/removing the resonator for about $200.
All of that being said, what do you guys think is the best route to go? For those of you who have any of theses things done I would love to hear your insight.

I was in the same situation as you. I have an 09 Hemi SLT that had the single exhaust. I did not want that "drone" that would drive me crazy so I started with just removing the resonator. In my opinion, that actually made it worse especially when the mds kicked in. The sound wasn't enjoyable at all. I then opted for cat back with duals out the back. I went with a Flowmaster 50. I couldn't be happier. It sounds like a hemi should when you want it to, but cruisen at 75-80 on the highway i can't even hear the exhaust, even with mds on. This is just my opinion but I am happy with my choice. Good luck.

I have the 24 inch Magnaflow XL series muffler. Was a single now duals. No reasonators.Muffler, hangers, stainless rolled tips I spent $310. I have no drone even towing a 4500lb fifth wheel.I think its a bit loud but others tell me it sounds like a high end sports car.I couldn't imagine using less then the 24 inch with no resonators.I saw NO difference in the trucks performance or fuel mileage. It does sound good late night on back roads or interstate ramps and such.

Thanks for the input guys. Has anyone noticed if the rpm's have dropped due to switching out the exhaust at cruising speed? I think anything will sound better than stock alone.

Rpms can't drop.Thats gearing and tire size.Dosen't matter if no muffler or even no manifolds, rpms stay the same.

I have to disagree with sdeanb01. I think removing the resonators (although I already have dual exhaust) is the perfect sound. I dualed out my '07 and put a Magnaflow on it, but it was too much after awhile and it was loud enough for people to hear a couple of blocks over. I've heard Flowmaster setups and those are too loud for me too. But I know some people like them - it's all personal preference...
