Any downside to putting flowmaster dual exhaust?
I really like the look of dual exhaust so I was wanting to take my truck in and have this installed. I was quoted $425 to have it done and he said this system is hemi specific (whatever that means). He said other systems are way too loud with the hemi and this one isn't. I am not interested in a loud sound just like the way it looks and I guess what minimal hp and mpg gains I would see would be ok. Is there any downside to having this done? Will it void my warranty or cause any other problems I am not aware of?
Is it a 50 series? That would be the quietest FM, but that is not saying much. FM is fairly loud. If you are worried about it being "loud" look into a Magnaflow 18 or 24. There are many videos on youtube of all the flavors.
It will not void the warrenty, it is a chambered muffler so it will drone, and the 50hd series is the model made by flowmaster specifically for the hemi motor. It has larger chambers than the standard 40 and 50 series. The standard 40 series and 50 series have been consistantly dyno proven to decrease horsepower on the Hemi motor because the chambers are too small. The duals do look sweet and sound great but it's going to drone. If you don't want any drone go with a straight through design like magnaflow mbrp or borla. The straight through design will also give you much better horsepower gains.

I personally think Flowmaster is too loud and I'd recommend the Magnaflow, but it's still significantly louder.
If you just want it a little bit louder, then you can just remove the resonator(s), but I'm not sure you can make the stock exhaust work with duals without replacing the muffler, so once again, I'd recommend a magnaflow 24".
