Weigh Scales at Gas stations - Ever weigh your Ram?
Yes his is a Regular cab, mine is pretty close to most of my buddies that have them,(crew Cab) no side bars, no rear cover , 20's just like it comes from dealer with me and ,I think a half of a tank
Weighed my 09 CC TRX 2WD 4.7L at work the other day, me out of the truck and about 1/2 a tank of gas. 5240 lbs. Was kind of shocked they weighed that much so I went and weighed my 04 Dakota QC 2WD 3.9L and it tipped the scales at 4140 lbs.
Finally weighed mine and was shocked too. Took it to a QT with the Cat Certified Scales. Found out that my 1/2 ton 4x4 Ram (standard cab long bed) with the 4.7 and a full tank of fule tips the scales at 5420!
If I load up my 4 wheeler and gear it is over 3 tons!

Half ton actually doesn't refer to the weight of the truck, it's a loose reference to the payload of the truck. That is- it was a loose reference to the payload of the trucks back in the day when payload was less & closer to 1/2 ton.
My landfill scale puts me at 6,200 "empty" (driver, plus topper, plus gas). 2500 QC 4x4 Hemi. I think my 1500 was about 600lbs less.
A truck scale put me at 13,500 total with passengers + dogs + trailer + camping stuff (including a large kennel).
Landfill scales should be accurate... they use then in - out weight to charge the large trucks. Since they are used "in trade", they are most likely certified by the state as well.
