This is my story about ordering my 2010 loaded power wagon. On Jan 22/2010 i placed my order along with a 2k deposit. The ordering manager said 6-8 weeks no later than 8 for sure. To say the least i was pumped up about getting this beast. **Side note** my lease expires April 1/2010. Ok so at the 6 week mark i call to follow up. They say its in its final stage of production and should be shipped very soon, ok sounds good i reply. 8 week mark, i call to follow up, the dealer responds good news its on the way, we should see it anyday now, GREAT - so i sell off all my mods and return the truck to stock - wash/wax - detail the inside, shes now ready to go back. So i call on March 18th they say deliver is expected on March 25th. The day comes i show up in the AM and give them another 5k down, they are happy and say she'll be here in the afternoon we will call with the vin so you can get your insurance. No call,no update.....? i call at 6pm so any news -- sorry it didnt come -- umm ok -- for sure on the 29th, ugh alright i say. Monday shows up - no truck - tuesday no truck.... im pissed i show up saying WTF is going on? Shipping issues is what im told, and that worst case is its gonna be another 2 weeks and the truck is in a city 2 hours away. They call today saying i can keep my lease until the new one comes and they are expecting it today. lol YA RIGHT! --- has anyone ever had this happen? is this normal practice when ordering? all comments welcome - thanks in advance

 

Get it in writing that you can keep the lease at no extra cost maybe a safe thing to do!

 

2 hours away - I'd tell them to go pick it up

 

ok as for the lease thing -- thats already done, they are taking it back at no cost to me, including my 16k kms over lol. The 2 hour thing, i asked that and he said its not that easy or else he would have done that. I just dont understand the problem.

 

They probably have to do an initial delivery inspection and in process the vehicle...I would take the free "rental" and await your trucks arrival. It's not like the dealer planned on it taking longer, they want to make the sale and have you off their back faster than you want to be out of there; i am sure

 

At least you were told 'shipping issues'. I was told my truck wasn't in because of a 'freeze on 4x4s'. WTH??? I knew it was a lame excuse but decided my only options were to either cancel the deal and try my luck with another dealership or wait for the truck. After the frustration of dealing with other dealerships I refused to go that route again!

Hopefully your truck will be in soon.

Take a 2 hour drive and there should be a truck at a dealership with your name on the window sticker or just keep driving the free vehicle any long trips you need to make, they have already said yes to the lease return with whatever miles? It sucks and they will make excuses, you ever see those delivery trucks, they come in with different make vehicles sometimes since maybe the dealer ship is small and only gets deliveries once a week or something. Which is BS cuz they charge us whatever the cost is for that vehicle from the plant its built to your dealership.

 

Happened to me too, except I had ordered it almost 8 months in advance from Iraq, and got it 3 weeks late when I got back. Same thing with the transport being 2 hours away, and they wouldn't give me a firm date on when it would be there so I had huge issues with the guys at the dealership and one ended up getting fired because he posed as the GM over the phone, cussed me out when I got to the dealership, and didn't have my truck ready even when I finally got the transport company's number and gave HIM the date the truck would be there. Good luck dude...just remember, if someone can't help you out, there's almost always someone above them who can.

 

what really bugs me is that they have taken all the fun out of it -- i have been waiting since 08 for the new power wagon and now i finally get to own one, and what happens - they screw me around, instead of having a great experience im gonna look at the truck and be like wow what a run around to get you in the lane way....ugh!
