Everything is back together. Replaced everything inside the differential. Seems to be doing fine. All covered under the Powertrain Warranty, dealer first was running the repairs under my MaxCare warranty but they corrected the error. No gear whine, maybe someday down the road I will upgrade to the Mopar 4.10's.

Did go and look at the Tundra's, if there had been a Regular cab 5.7 2wd with color matched bumpers I might have done it, but after getting my truck back and taking a trip to Houston I am glad that I still have it. Too many luxury items on my truck that aren't available on the regular cab Toyota.

To top things off I got more compliments today with the SRT rims than I have the total time I have owned the truck. So all in all, last week was last week and it is gone forever. Hopefully things will keep going good.

Thank goodness I have the Maxcare extended warranty. I assume they haven't cracked the differential to take an actual look inside, but it seems to me that if a bearing let loose then everything inside the differential is suspect now. The service writer is telling me that the gears are much harder and should be hurt with the metal floating around. I have 3.55 open rear end, BTW. I wanted to go for 4.10's but after reading everyone's issues with gear whine I am reluctant to do so. They will allow me to buy the Mopar 4.10's, LSD, and carrier to the tune of about $2,000 and install under the warranty. Thanks, but no thanks.

I have gone to this site

Is an Axle Assembly the whole thing with all internal parts there? If that is the case I would just rather buy that and have it installed.

I am pretty torn on what to do. I have loved this truck since the day I bought it. It is the 6th Dodge truck I have owned in a row, and it was the very first NEW vehicle I have ever bought. But I have had more problems with it than any other truck I have owned. It is on it's 4th seat cover due to cracking, exhaust manifold cracked, exhaust header bolt cracked, a/c expansion valve went out, a/c condensor went out, a/c blend door actuator went out, main seal on the rear end was leaking, and now the entire rear end is fubar'ed. I don't want to trade, but it sits in the shop for at least a day or two every other month. This time it is out of commission at least 4 days. I get a rental car under the Maxcare, but I need a truck, not a car, plus I am spending 17.00 a day on insurance because I don't want to hassle with my insurance if something happens while I am in the rental. Those Toyota incentives are looking better and better everyday.

I can't sit hear and let you just let the dealership sell you on the truck is a piece of crap. They are just making money off you. All the A/C stuff did they really need all that or just a relay like my Neon in 2000, I had it in 5 times for the A/C and I told them it is a heat issue when it gets really hot outside the A/C kicks off, the secondary cooling fan shuts off then the A/C. So they spent all this money on changing every part in the A/C system and it was the relay for the A/C fan overheating. I told them it was electrical but no they changed condensor, evaporator, hoses, everything. So really is that the trucks fault that the dealership does not know how to fix something. The exhaust they have recognized the problem and issued an RRT, just call the dealer they order the parts if your truck is on the list and in your case I guess they already fixed it.
I had a 3/4 ton brand new GMC 4x4 350 engine and trans, with 4:11's, It had 5000 km's then on day driving down the road I feel a big bang like someone hit me, I looked in the mirror and the axle on the passenger side was sticking out, slowed down and it went it in.It was a big heavy duty rear end and I had bad luck, hadn't even beat it yet really. Did maybe one burnout by accident but I was 20. LOL
I think you should question your dealer why it took so many parts to fix the a/c. To me it seems like guesswork and they do not listen to you at all, I remember when the keyless entry in order to set the fobs you had to just turn on the key and ground out this green wire and the locks would function then you push lock and the locks should function then unlock, all set. Well at the factory when there was someone new on the job after they got good at it I would slip a fob in my pocket and when they hook it up you can hear the locks function cuz they do did this with no door panels or interior, anyway I would hit my fob and it would function twice so when they would disconnect and test it only one fob would work , actually 2 the one in my pocket and the second one they programmed. They had to do it all over again. So at the dealer ship I noticed they were doing the fobs on a van so I had a fob in my pocket from my car was the same fob and when the guy first grounded it I waited till it functioned then i hit mine. Well he got so frustrated after like 6 trys he went and got a new fob. In the mean time I told the Service Manager what I had done he loved it cuz the guy working on the van was a know it all, so he asked me what to do I told him. Then I watched from the waiting room and cracked up, after a while I filledin the whole room and we were all cracking up the guy finally figured out someone was screwing with him so he took off with the van and came back 2 minutes later, All Done LOL. Off topic but ...good luck I hope they just order you a complete new rear end and swap it out.

I thought the 09s had a lifetime warranty on everything in the power train? Why is this not covered?
