09 Ram damaged during deliver....buy?
Hello..long time lurker on this forum...poster on others...haha..
I recently came across a 2009 laramie crew ram 1500 at a dealership. The truck has under 2k miles on it and is practically brand new. The story behind the truck is that the hood was damaged while en route to delivery at the dealership. The Hood, headlights, and Hemi badging was replaced by the factory. The dealer decided to pass on the truck and it was auctioned off by dodge. I just sent an email off to dodge requesting info on how the truck was damaged, as I would like the WHOLE story.
My question is....should I even pursue buying this truck? Im sure the fact that it was damaged and the $2500 worth of work that has be done on the truck will greatly decrease the resale value...but I plan to mod and keep this truck a loooooong time...(I really missed out not having 4wd on my current 04 laramie)
Thanks!

Most people would be surprised how many new carts/trucks get damaged in transport.
A tree or bridge thats a little low for that shiny new RAM on top of a hauler, dealer porters that cant drive etc.
Some states you have to disclose ALL damage to customers on new cars, some states it has to be over a certain amount before they have to disclose damage to the customer.
If the repairs look good and the frame wasnt damaged I would consider it if the price was right. Lot of guys switch their headlights, grilles and get a different hood painted on their own brand new trucks.

Most car plants have an internal rectification department to fix dings & scratches that inevitably occur in manufacture. As much as steps are taken to minimise damage, someone will always drop a wrench, or a forklift will topple occasionally, or whatever.
Since it's just bolt-on parts that have been replaced, I'd be happy to take the suitable saving. My only reticence would be the hood matching the rest of the paintwork. But then if they can't get that right in the factory, you have no chance anywhere else!
Buy at right price.

Dealer just emailed me saying no lifetime warranty on it due to it being purchased at an auction. Even though it was never titled to anyone. I'll be asking dodge about that one!!!
20k off sounds fair to me!
