Default Transmission Fluid Cooler

For some reason, I got to thinking abt the transmission in my '09 1500 5.7l Quad Cab Ram.
I looked in front of the radiator for a cooler and all I saw was the power steering cooler.
The shop manual shows one just above the power steering cooler.
What gives? Where is my transmission cooler?
Thanks,
Jack

Normally it would be inside the radiator. Seems easy enough to look for the line off the tranny and follow it.

I just looked for mine and it looks like it is sandwiched in between the radiator and the condenser. You can see the lines just above your oil filter following into the rad and along with the ac lines. But it's just my guess because you loose the final path of the lines. I guess the only real way to tell is to remove the cover from the front of the rad so you can look down into it. I'd like to know for myself just how good it really is! Hopefully we have a separate rad for the tranny for the best cooling possible!

The shop manual, which came from Chrysler, shows it right above the power steering cooler. I cannot see anything, on my truck, that looks like whats in the manual.
The truck came with the towing receiver and wiring so I would think, it would have an outboard cooler for the transmission.

Maybe except that the 1500 Ram has no "towing package", they are all the same cooler wise. You can get a class 4 receiver which mine has, but that is the only thing that comes with it.

This is correct. When you look from the front, what you are seeing is the AC condensor. The tranny and PS coolers are sandwiched in between that and the radiator. I believe on the front bottom of the AC condensor, there is an oil cooler. Probably what you are mistaking as the PS cooler.

It is tough to see all of this without the plastic cover not being removed.

I Have a CC without the towing package. I just took a good look and to me it seems that the AC and tranny share a radiator - compartmentalized?

No, the tubes should go in between the AC and the radiator to it's location. All should have a separate tranny cooler.

An air-to-oil transmission oil cooler is standard on all engine packages. The transmission oil cooler is mounted to the front of the radiator above the power steering cooler.

I can see that you have prior experience with tranny coolers and what to look for!

Most of your average daily vehicles that do not have a tranny cooler use the radiator tanks to cool the fluids...The lines screw into the the tanks (bottom or side), one in and one out back to the tranny.
