Yep, I did not know about the plugs until weeks after the sale. I still think I would have bought the Dodge, but I am really not sure.

Just so you don't get ahead of yourself, the plugs get replaced at 30,000 Miles not KM The manual says 50,000KM

16 plug 4.7s get the top row of pugs changed at 48K miles, the bottom and top row get changed at 96K miles.

I dont know when they started putting the 16 plugs in, I dont think my old 2003 4.7 Durango had the 16 plugs, it may have but I dont remember..

The 16 plug 4.7 came out in 08. Hemi's are extremely easy to change the plugs in. I've got it down to about 20 to 25 minutes. The problem you guys are having is you're doing them through the engine compartment, try doing them through the fenders with the fender liners removed

the hemi is one badass engine. you cant expect such a better engine to be built the same as an inferior engine. there are places online that rate cars with the maintenance cost over x amount of years and ram isnt that bad. if your concerned about the cost of keeping a performance engine running well there are always tata motors and electric cars that are low maintenance. honda civics only have 4 plugs to change. 10 minutes your done. but the civic would lose a race against my truck. specially with a 20 foot boat behind both of them. if you can spend 2 hours under your hood every year and a half then its a cost difference of about 40 bucks over 8 more plugs. compared to ford 100k plugs its about 150 dollars difference by the time you change platinums out on the ford. but the dodge will actually make it to 100k miles. ford is best to unload it by then. at 700k miles i will still be warrantied. ford wont. worth the extra 8 plugs at $4.75 ea. that price will probly go down eventually too. love that lifetime warranty. i paid for the bumper to bumper lifetime. following the maintenance schedule should have me driving this truck for twentyfive years. at 33 years old this could have the potential to be the last truck i buy. or if 2012 is the END it will be the last truck i buy. worth 8 more plugs. love this truck! so far 36000 miles and still smiling.

Default spark plug interval for the 2009 hemi has been changed

The Ram website states that the 2009 hemi spark plug change interval is now 48000 miles. It has been updated since the owners manual was printed. I have always done mine at 30 anyway (former f250 owner), but at least now you dont HAVE to.

i changed mine out at 65000 kms and they were fairly decent, probably could have left in for a for another 20000 km but it all depends on your driving style and loads. i will probably change them out again at 130,000 km I also put in the OEM NGKs

The Ford 4.6 is one of the BEST engines ever made.If it had produced more Zip I would have bought a 4.6 Ford truck. It dosen't cost $150 to change plugs in it either.More like half that amount.I have more faith in the Ford 4.6 then I do the Hemi.Time will tell if the Hemi is as durable as the Ford 4.6 is. I have had three Grand Marquis with 4.6. including a new 2010 as there are no more Vics or Marquis being built.
