Who has removed resonators with Magnaflow mufflers?
I have the 14" Magnaflow and have just a bit of drone around 80 km/h. I left my resonators in at the advise of the installer. He said if I like drone then to take them out. Apparently the drone is pretty bad. Don't know from experience but I have spoken to a few people in the muffler business and they all say the same thing.
I just got my 1500 and thinking about the 18" Magnaflow. I guess our trucks have 2 resonators. I wonder what it would sound with just the front resonator left on? Any member running a like setup?

I am not going to say there in NO drone at all but at idle or just cruising down the freeway it aint bad AT ALL. The wife says even says it sounds good, so, Magnum owners.....go for loose the resonator.. it may be the brand of performance muffler you use or placement of them but the resonator donesnt do a dam thing when opening up your exhaust.
I have the 14 with the resonators. You can hold a conversation at any speed. If I had anyone in the truck that complained about it... Well... They would not be allowed back in.... And of course would never be able to make it in the SRT.
Hey, I work at a National Muffler Company, rhymes with midas! I also asked alot of questions about the rear resonator, I was extremely concerned about the drone because of the wagon cargo area, I had a Boxster and the drone was UNBEARABLE, plus my wife said "you better not do that to the Magnum" So, being the good husband I am. I wacked of the 2 into 1 system and made it a true duel exhaust with two magna flows and some chrome tips "mainly for looks".

I have an 18" Magnaflow muffler with no resonaters and it sounds great. With resonaters, it still sounds good, but not restricted like having them on. There is a bit of a drone but its not bad at all. I think my truck sounds better as well as louder and throatier than when they were still on. I could probably throw a video together if requests are made...
like you even need to ask...i have been on the fence with this issue for months trying to decide if i should do it or not. But i can't find a video with decent sound quality with the 18" mufflex setup.
I have an 18" magnaflow without resonators on my 2009 Hemi- sounds perfect, very little drone. It seems to be loudest in the cab a speeds between 30-50 mph, still the drone level is very acceptable.
I have an 18" magnaflow and left the resonators on. Can taking the resonators off make that much of a difference? Would taking them off totally change the sound of the exhaust or just make a slight difference in tone and volume? I guess what I am asking is how dramatic is the difference between resonators on or off?
