Default Dodge Ram Not Too Waterproof...

Well I have been enjoying my new Ram Crew Cab Laramie for about two weeks now... but last night we had a quick storm in Southern California and woke up this morning to a puddle of water on my weather-tech floor mats on the driver side.

It was dripping out of the little screw cover on the handle next to the windshield on the driver's side. I'm assuming there is some type of leak from the sunroof and water found it's easiest way out through that plastic screw cover.

It's been at the dealers all morning and waiting to hear what's up...

How should I be reacting with the dealership right now?

Is this just opening up a whole possibility of problems in the future?

How concerned with mold should I be? I guess I might be losing that new car smell a lot sooner than I wanted to

How about future electronic problems?

Just looking for some advice and quite bummed right now.

After 2 weeks and waterproofing problems already? I would bring it back and have them atleast try and do something about it. I tend to not trust any kind of opening on the roof of any vehicle, t-tops,sunroofs. If they don't leak then eventually they do.

Kevinc66 I agree... I never ever get sunroofs for that same reason. It's something I honestly never would use and it is just another possible issue to deal with down the road. The one time I decide to go for the sunroof I have an issue... go figure!

Well I am waiting to see what the dealer says and obviously will give them a chance to do something about it and make it right. I am just glad I caught it early.

The thing about Dodge dealerships seem to be, you either get a good one or a bad one,I've always had Fords, they seem to be all good. It just seems after only 2 weeks and your new truck is already letting in water, just seems wrong.Just like you said, anything involving water will lead to other issues as well.I'm sure it'll work out for you.Good luck man.

I waffled back and forth on the sunroof for a week now (see "Sunroof...or not").

Phew!

drain tube from the sunroof goes down the pilar, leaking from there for sure. The 3rd brake light on the 09's leaked also...hopefully not a trend.

Well living in a state where rain is frequent and very heavy at times I can say for the year + that I've owned mine that I've never had a leak. It's now past the 40,000 mile mark and still no real issues, knock on wood. Best of luck on your new truck.

I emailed by dealership about my leaking problem and they directed me to this site:

The sunroof drain hose is plugged with dust/pollen/what have you. All it takes is to blow a little air through there and it's all good again. You can blow it out from top or bottom, however I found that it is easier to do it from the sunroof hole as the bottom outlet is in the door jam at the rubber boot.
