Default trans gear whine

my new 2010 quad has a whine i beleve its the trans. under light accelleration or deceleration coming up to a stop light, and crusing around 25 to 35 mph and in parking lot driving. i beleve its always there [the whine] but most noticeable with above conditions. dealer says its normal they call it power transfer? just wondering if any one else is experencing this gear whine.

I have the same whine on my 2010 Regular Cab. At 25-40mph under light throttle, I have a whine. I let off the gas and it goes away. It sounds to me like the diff gears. I also took mine to the dealer but they said they couldn't hear anything. I've heard there have been some problems with the diff gears in the fourth gens.

Sorry to hear y'all having these issues, I've had my truck almost two years now with no such whine from either location. QC hemi 4x4, 3.55 The good news is that yalls trucks are new and are under warr, so get them to the dealer and don't take a "it's normal" from these guys or go to a different dealer for a second opinion.

Had this issue happen to my truck, got 60 000 kms and the rear diff 3.55 was whining bad, went to dealership told me my diff was trashed and warranty won't cover it cause I never serviced it. So I upgraded to 456 since I was paying anyways, no way I was putting that cheap 3.55 back in. Now on a good note I got the LSD which is nice.

I think you got screwed, the maintenance schedule says to inspect the diff oil at 30,000 kilometer intervals, change required only if frequent towing. You could have argued that you only did occasional not frequent towing. Worth fighting for the $3700 you paid. If Chrysler keeps rejecting valid warranty claims, they'll loose many future customers (me included) and head back to insolvency.

That's the thing I never serviced it before, I never bring my truck to dodge because its too much bull**** all the time so therefore I never changed the oil in it, mynegligence. By putting a oil change at 30 000 kms in the owners manual they protect themselves that way. Like I said I was upgrading to 4.56 either way so I would of paid Somewhat. Also their argument was that I had 35 " tirres and lift kt but that's only an excuse I know.

All in all just make sure you guys service your diffs and there should be no prob with warranty. But I can see a tendency here with all these diffs. I went to a dealership yesterday to check something and they are booked solid for a month, I asked if that's a good thing stating that dodge is always braking down hehe, she kinda smiled and said it was maointenance.

Maintenance my foot... ha! You should have told her that was the reason your rearend went out...every time you tried to schedule a checkup they told you they were booked solid, lol! All kidding aside, next time you go there, peep around the corner into the shop. The last time I was there the majority had been dismantled or they were pulling parts off and that's not maintenance, lol! It's pretty much the same thing at my dealership except back then the booking was only about a two week wait. I had asked the same thing and got the same answer and that visit was over a year ago, ha ha! Wow...I can imagine what it's like now with all the driveshafts falling and rearends going out...geezem! I have to try and schedule an appointment for a 30k ml transmission and rear end fluid change, I'm at 27k+ right now...hope I can get squeezed in, lol!
