Need Input on Rear Diff
Dodge Team;
I just purchased a 2010 SLT CrewCab with the BigHorn package. This is my 1st dodge (traded my Tundra) and the dealer told me the 3.55 diff was a limited slip with the BigHorn package, I told him the only way I would purchase the truck is if it had a LSD diff. What do you think?
I called another dealer with the VIN # to see what they could find and this dealer said this VIN required the 85-140 synthetic with the LSD friction modifier. Can this be true, I really don't want to take the cover off my diff to see if it is open or not. I will be upset if the initial dealer mislead me.
Thanks,
Dave

X2 on this, 4.10's are LSD as well,sorry. Don't feel bad, before I bought my Ram, the salesman did'nt realize the truck had a Hemi in the truck we were test driving. We went for a ride and he said"the 4.7 has quite a bit pep does'nt it", I looked at him confused and said I never drove one, this truck has a Hemi in it. We were in disagreement until I showed him the HEMI badge on the fender, enough said.The one thing I've gotten from this forum and others is you have to know more about the vehicle you're looking to buy than the car salesman.
As others have said, 3.55 is open. I had the 3.55 on mine, opened it, and no LSD unit at all. 3.92 & 4.10s are the only ones with LSD. You can add an LSD to the 3.55, but take it from me, save yourself the headache and don't try. Push the dealer and get what you want.

I was very impressed with how well my 2wd 3.55 open diff'ed crew cab did in the snow this year. I had zero issues. I had to turn the ESP off to have any "fun". My past two trucks were 4wd so I was a little worried but it did fine.
