My dealer wants $250 to do it...every 30,000 miles, I don't think it is that bad in the long haul to keep the warranty intact.

I was told you cannot use platinum's. My last F-150 had platinum plugs and I changed them at 75,000. They still looked good.

Done deal. But I have a way to go. 9,000 on the 09. Got it in Feb. 2009. So two more years.

That's the best price I've heard so far even without the plugs. Although I still want to change them myself.

I've already changed the oil about ten times by myself with no way to prove it so I'm already screwed out of the warranty. No way I'm paying someone 2-300 bucks to do something I could do in an hour or two.

I looked everywhere and finally gave up and went to my local dealer. They had them in stock (though only 8 of them) for $4.75 each. So I bought them. I decided not to try to install all 16 at once because of the time and hassle so I had only planned to do 4-6 a night until done. I started tonight on the passenger side. First remove the breather lid and hose. You need to unscrew it at the throttle body to get the hose off. Then remove the big Hemi plastic cover over the engine.

Then you have room to work. I still on a short ladder too. The first 2 caps are really easy. Each cap has two plugs under it. I easily removed the old plugs which looked great to me. Then put anti sieze on the threads of the new plugs and checked gap. I think spec was .042 or .043 depending where you look. They were just about right on at .041 but I tweaked them slightly to get to .043. I installed the first 2 sets of two.

Then moving to the back two on the passenger side it gets a bit busy. Then I had to use pivot socket joints, wrenches etc to get the 3rd cap off. After you do the third set leave the cap off while you do the back one. It is a lot harder to access due to the heater core hoses but grit you teeth and you can get it done, its just tough to reach. So then I put the 4th cap on then moved back to the third one and called it a night. I was out of plugs at this point and it took me about 1hr:45min. I reinstalled the air filter cover, engine cover etc.

After hearing others having problems from those using other plugs I of course checked it. As soon as I started the engine the traction control light came on and so did the check engine light and it ran like S_H_I_T. rough idle etc. It would not even rev up. I knew nothing was wrong as I had taked my time and you cant cross wire anything as the coil wires are too short.

So I shut it down and restarted it. This time it was fine. No rough idel no nothing. Check engine light is still on though. So I drive it around the block and all is well. But how the heck did that engine know something was different?

I read some forums where people used aftermarket plugs and ended up removing them. I wonder if theirs did the same as mine and would have been fine on restart?

As soon as the other 8 arrive at the dealer I will do the driver side which will be WORSE. A lot worse I think due to the brake booster.

I wish I didnt have to do this every 30k !! And I may not again. Those plugs looked fine.
