Just got back from my trip to Moab. I ended up flat towing the TJ out there since I couldn't find a reasonable price on a trailer. Not to mention storing it would be a whole other issue. I picked up a tow bar from Harbor Freight for 69$ and some trailer lights for 30$. Because CO requires that any trailer or tow vehicle have active brakes we decided to unhook the Jeep and drive it separately through the Rocky Mountains. This was far cheaper and easier than investing in a Brake Buddy type system. Anyway, mileage going uphill and into the wind from St. Louis to Limon, CO was 11 MPG and towing downhill and with the wind from Limon, CO to St. Louis was just shy of 13 MPG. I should note we also had the truck fully loaded with 4 adults, a child and a full bed of luggage and gear. Anyway, I was thoroughly impressed with the towing capability of the truck. I just wanted to update you all since there was some interest in my towing numbers. Thanks.
