Default Brake pad upgrade?

I sort of feel like my truck doesn't stop very well. I had the dealer check into it and they just looked at me like I had 18 eyes..But anyway, the truck stops decently around town, but if I have to get on brakes hard if for some given reason, there isn't that "bight" of new brakes. Furthermore, when I have towed something light around 1,500 -2,000lbs it is really pathetic. Is there any type of pad upgrade I could do to the truck to get some more friction on them rotors?

My lift came with stainless front lines. I'd say it stops pretty good - even with 35's. Haven't touched the pads yet. There is not much pedal travel at all to get everything slowing down real quick.

I don't think much has changed on the brakes up front from 06-08. You might be able to do some searching in the 3rd gen area to see what they are doing. You can probably use the same upgrades they are using.

I would say gears pretty much have nothing to do with it (drove a F350 with same 3.55 size gears, stopped much better with 35 inch tires to boot). Thanks guys though for the suggestions. I will look into the 3d gen as well.

yeah my 06 stopped way firmer than the 09. even worse with the bigger tires. i keep searching for a larger caliper kit or something. not really sure exactly what to look for either.

Contact Otts Friction Supply in Portland, Or ((503-283-4165)) for some carbon metallic pads, 1000% better then the crap Dodge uses, they will stop if you were pulling a 747. The only pads I've used in 15 years on my last 3 Rams. About 80.00 for the front and 60.00 for rears, make sure the rotors and drums are turned before the new pads are installed and you will get about 50,000 miles out of them.

Just paint your calipers - you'll be amazed how much better your brakes feel...

Seriously, if you read the reviews and stats, the Ram performs very well in braking. It is very progressive, not grabbing all at once, which may be why it feels like it's not hauling you down. As as for Fords, in the recent Car & Drive "10 best / 10 worst" rated the Raptor as the worst braking performance of any vehicle they tested!

How would painting your calipers improve the vehicles braking ability?
