i know that the mercedes do this and over time people reset the system so it shifts harder, maybe dodge uses that technology.

There's more to a new vehicle break-in than just the engine. Every mechanical part needs to be "seated" to it's mated part. This includes brakes, transmission, rear end.... Engines are broke in by heat cycles not the magic 500 mile mark. I've always heard to start the motor and immediately drive it like normal until it reaches full operating temperature. Then park it and let it cool down completely. Repeat several times.

Your new vehicle may only show 10 miles at delivery but the engine has been through many heat cycles by the time you get it.
