Default Finally put it to the floor!

After waiting 500 miles for the break in periord. I finally put the pedal to the floor to see what the new truck could do. I was very impressed as to how quickly the truck got up to 80. Very impressed. The truck shifts hard but feels very good. Hope i didn't do any damage to the motor but it felt good.

sorry but it is toast...... just kidding! i have had a lot of new cars over the past few years and read a lot about break in periods. many say if you dont ride it hard from the get go you lose power, others the opposite, I am not sure since I am not a mechanic and I always err on the side of caution. you waited the full period you are good to go.

I drive everything normal from the get go. I won't race the thing, but I won't be a granny either. I have never had issues. I have rebuilt many engines and ran them hard from day one with no issues.

The only issue is, if you completely floor it, it sets off a sensor, and now.... your warranty is VOID..... sorry.

think my truck had 25 miles when i went w.o.t. for the first time, was only for a few seconds... dont believe in babying it for xxx amount of miles will make it last longer in the long run.

Okay you guys don't work in the factory do ya, within 20 seconds of first fire up of that engine it is on a machine basically a dyno but they measure other stuff too, Called the Rolls machine anyway you see the speed in big red letters very often I see 100 mph so it is not babied from day one and the way they drive them in the lots over the BSR Buzz Squeak Rattle track well it is brutal slow a lot of guys floor it over the bumps. Smoking tires, all kinds of abuse so don;t worry about hurting it the damage is done if there is any. I followed my son for about 2 miles today we had to pick up his car and I noticed a bit of white smoke from the exhaust, we checked the oil no foam but he is down half a litre, and it was just changed a few weeks ago, the oil is still clean. I did notice water dripping from the exhaust so I am assuming steam.

When I picked mine up the guy at the dealer told me there IS no break in period for the new HEMI, just drive it normally however you usually do and it'll adapt to your driving style. Dunno how it "adapts" but I never worried about break in and I never drove it anything but normally from day 1.

I heard the same thing and did that with my Chevy boat engine. It seems to be working fine 200 hours later.
