Level kit: Help tracking down part number
If you want to level a TRX4 change the factory shock/strut to a regular 4x4 shock/strut and you will be fine. After all the problems with my TRX and the leveling kit I changed them over and no more problems now.
Sounds a lot more expensive than a $200 leveling kit....
What's the best place to get the standard front struts? I looked for the Bilstien kit but couldnt find it with the lift anywhere but with the superlift kit which is almost $3k....
Do I just buy the Bilstien front struts and then add the mopar kit to it?
ran to the deer lease last night and with the crazy amounts of rain and the logging trucks on the county road it was a huge mess.....tested out 4wd for the real first time and with the level kit on, no wobble or 4wd problems and never rubbed the bottom of the bumper in the places i did before
After reading this entire thread, I thought I would throw my 2 cents in...
I had an '06 Dakota that I put the Daystar leveling kit on when I swapped out the stock shocks for Rancho's. These kits look identical and the shock/strut assembly looks the same, too. It was great having the leveling kit on, but as others have stated, there were times I would walk out and think that the front was a touch too high...or the back was a touch too low.
The kit itself was easy to install and I did it in my garage at home. I had the alignment done 6 times at a local shop and they couldn't get it right, but they didn't re-charge me after the first time. For the 7th time, I took it to an alignment shop that works on 4x4's and they got it right the first time. HUGE difference and I should have gone there first.
I never had a problem with tire wear and it was more comfortable with the truck leveled. However, I had to re-align the headlights and when I put the trailer on, it seemed like the back end sagged a lot more than it did before. That REALLY got people flashing their lights at me! If I had to do it again, (and I might on my 2010 Crew Cab) I would level the rear too.
