mds driving in 5th instead????

Just got my 2010 ram a few months ago. My only complaint is I hate the MDS
system in the city. High way is OK, but I noticed it doesn't work with cruise control all the time.
My question is. Is it OK to drive in the auto stick mode. Gear 5. I notice that it works like a normal automatic and never goes into Eco mode. DOES THIS HAVE ANY NEGATIVE EFFECT on the truck?
