Sirius even sells a magnetic antenna and I am sure they would have what you need to hook up to your truck. Since you got the bench seat it is easy to get the radio out and unplug the satellite antenna on the truck and plug in the new one for summer. Now I am assuming you dont want to pull your radio out all the time . I would not recommend a magnetic antenna on the hood since it is probably aluminum and if its not and it sticks it could let go hitting a bump or a perfectly aimed rock and go thru your windshield they are not light magnets. It would go thru for sure on the highway.
you need the truck antenna from sirius and a splitter and put it in the glove box if you can get one with the wire long enough so you can disconnect. There has to be a splitter, I bet you call Sirius, now I am repeating myself again....they will have the answer to the hook up.You could just run the wire down the front of the camper and under until you get to the back window of the truck run in down there and maybe under the cab and up thru the firewall somewhere...probably the drivers side it has a big rubber boot that most people use if they need wires from under the hood into the cab, then up over to the other side making sure the wire is away from heat and moving parts and to the glove box or wherever you can manage to get a splitter to reach, provided there is one. This place has a lot of splitters and adapters http://www.fairviewmicrowave.com/interface_guide.htm

I read a few comments from people that bought antennas and some brands only lasted 3 months. I am a little worried about Sirius quality because I bought one of their best radios through Crutchfield about 5 or 6 years ago. After returning so may radios I lost count but it was at least 6 defective radios I gave up on Sirius. So now I have a free year and am going to give it a try. I was hoping to find a magnetic mount antenna made by a company other than Sirius and put it on the hood when I have the slide in on the truck. But I am now aware that the hood is aluminum so maybe I'll mount it on the camper by epoxying a metal plat on the camper roof.

I was hoping that the connector was easy to get to and didn't want to take apart the dash board to get to the antenna connector. Crutchfield had a good installation video on their site, so maybe they can help me out as to how to get to the and connect the antenna wire

Nothing against Crutchfield but I would go to a local stereo shop where you live...they would help you and you would know you have the right stuff and they might even be able to set you up and hide all the wires make it professional looking....All that money sitting in that garage alone let alone the truck. Just curious how high is the roof in the room where you have the hoist?

I should be driving up to IN to pick the camper in about a week and I don't think I will have the time to do anything about the antenna before I leave. It would be nice to have the Sirius radio on the way back to SC.

The picture of the lift was taken in my old garage in NY I think the ceiling was about 10 feet, The garage I had built in my new house in SC has a twelve foot one inch ceiling.

Hey maybe you will get lucky and for some unknown reason yours will work. Mine in my 72 chevy that has the Sony one works inside garages. Mine and my brother in laws, my neighbour all over the place Good Luck and have fun. Gonna be nice to get that camper in there and smooth out that ride eh?

The part of the camper that covers the cab is fiberglass so fiberglass may not be as bad as aluminum for blocking the signal, and right now without the camper the seats and ride is more comfortable than the Lexus I traded in as long as the road is smooth. But going over any kind of bump especially shopping center speed bumps is pure torture. I am sure the ride will be ten times better with 4,000 pounds in the back

You all are WAY overthinking this....... Go to www.tss-radio.com , order a magnetic antenna.(they dont make a splitter. you can use a small piece of 3m double sided tape and stick it to the dash. They work fine thru the windshield. if you dont likethat idea you can get a small piece of steel, cover it in vinyl stick that to the dash and the magnetic antenna will stick to that. The antennas last YEARS longer not being outside.

I didn't get the chance, I drove from SC to IN and back in 2 days to pick up the camper then have spent my time getting the camper ready for my trip to NY. The Refrigerator in the camper didn't work right from the day I got it and after spending 2 weeks trying to get it fixed I am getting new one put in today (Monday). The radio does work with the camper covering the antenna but it cuts out a lot but getting the refrigerator to work has been my main priority. I had planned on driving to NY 2 days ago but my whole schedule got messed up. I solve the radio problem when I get back from NY
