Trade ins DO muck up the water.

Remember the question was the best way to work a deal. Trade ins muck up the water by allowing the dealer to "hide" costs, not making it clear what you are actually paying for the truck. All those posts you just made were summed up by negotiate the trade in separate from your purchase, do not negotitate a "complete" sale. Understand what is going where.

I don't think you understand what I'm saying.

If you know your ACV, they can't hide anything.

That's my entire point. ACV reveals all. No hidden profit.

Buy at or below invoice.

The dealer has next to nothing for profit.

He can't give you an insane number for your trade. He ACV's your vehicle and gives you a little over ACV for trade value. That is lost profit. You hold all the cards, all the control and it's impossible not to get a great deal when you hold all the cards.

Trade ins do not cause problems.\

I don't know how better to explain it. If you go to a dealership and demand invoice, less hold back, ACV + over allowance for trade....you simply cannot miss. You will save thousands.
