Help with towing wire harness
Has anybody had trouble with the trailer lights harness? I have been pulling a trailer for about 6 months now with no problems.....sudddenly my running lights do not work but I have brake lights and turn signals.
I checked the trailer wirng and even hooked up another trailer...same thing...I am not getting voltage from the running lights prong...any ideas?

Stupid question, but... You're sure that the truck's headlights are on when you're testing? Meaning the taillights of the truck are on too? If so, then it seems you have a broken wire somewhere or something has become disconnected in the truck's wiring harness. Crawl under the truck and see if you can see where the trailer wiring harness plugs into the main lighting circuit. Your best bet may be to have the dealer take care of it.

Yeah let me tell ya.....I have looked at everything...all my lights are on...I even bought a tool with LED lights that tell me when the lights are working and like I said I have stop and turn lights but no running lights and all my lights work on the truck???
Hopefully a vist to my dealer this mornimg will produce results and I will share them withyou when I find out. Thanks for the help.

I have had the same problem. On my cargo trailer all the lights work, on my utility trailer no lights worked. I plugged both trailers into my brothers chev and both trailers lit up. I figured it was a bad ground on the utility trailer, so i cleaned up the ground connections I also switched the utility trailer to a 4 pin harness (no brakes) and now everything works great. FYI some trailers ground through the ball so make sure that its clean.
