Default Single Sub and Amp

I've seen numerous threads where people are upgrading their stereos with two subs and an amp. I've got the RER (touch screen with Nav) and the Alpine system with the sub under the back seat. I'm looking to get a little more bass out of the radio, but I don't want to loose the storage under the driver's side back seat.

I know the 3rd Gen dual and single boxes work in the 4th Gens, but has anyone actually installed just a single sub to replace the factory one? If so where did you put the Amp? Also, if you had the factory sub, can you use the speaker wires from the factory, or did you have to run new ones?

I have a single 12" in a fox box under the passenger side seat. It's more than enough bass with proper speaker and amp.
To answer your questions though, you cannot use the factory wires I don't believe.
And I mounted my amp right on the floor under the backrest of the seat.

Hope this helps!

I have a JL Stealthbox...10" with an alpine m-500 amp.

Im partial to the stealthbox, hits hard, and fit & finish is excellent.

My amp is just sitting on the floor behind the sub as seen in the picture.

And yes, you can use the stock sub wiring. I bought a pair of "solder on RCA female plugs" from radio shack. From there I ran a set of RCA cables to the amp input. And all is good. Questions...send a PM

No pics as of right now. I bought the mtx thunderform box and dropped two jl 10w3's into it with a kenwood 1000 watt amp and the jl cleansweep cleaning up the audio signals. I dont have the premium sound and am still running my factory headunit.

Found the stealthbox on craigslist...i would never pay retail for it. $600-$700 doesn't seem reasonable to me. I found it pretty locally and got it for $250. The amp was b-day gift from the misses and I think I paid like $20 in wiring. Any other questions PM.

too bad the stock subwoofer doesn't have more adjustments than the simple 3 way equalizer, you would think with the money that they charge for the optional sound system/nav system that they could have given us a bit more adjustment to get a heavier sound

im sure you could throw another small amp inline too just boost it/control it more to your liking. not sure how good the 8" stocker will sound if you boost it though.

You should be able to put in an equalizer that is separate, where maybe inside the center console if you have one. maybe depending on size behind the RAM sign on the dash below the heater controls, provided you have no switches there, It comes out with 2 screws on the back and well an eq might fit there. or one that works thru the radio...http://www.crutchfield.ca/Alpine_PXA...500pxah100.htm have no idea if it works with oem radio
