Default change oil warning at 2500 miles

I called my dealer and he said that my oil dont need changed yet and to turn the truck to on position, then step the gas pedal to the floor 3 times then turn the truck off to reset the oil warning. He said the oil light is judged on how you drive not the oil level. I dont know but i havent drove my truck that hard. Actually i have been easy on it. Its off by 3500 miles. Other then that this is one awesome truck.

I would have changed the oil, now the dealer has you on record that you did not change your oil when the light came on and 2500 miles is long enough for a first oil change. Dealers are gods when they change all the rules about oil changes but when you provide them with the information they need even Star scan instructions and they can't manage to get er done, except mine or the one I have for now.

Mine did this the first two times and I havn't seen it since because I change it every 3,000 miles on the nose.
The oil monitor is duty based meaning that if you have a lot of highway miles and long trips it will make it close to 6,000 miles before it turns on. If you have a lot of stop and go then it will come on more often. I would stick to the 3 month 3,000 mile rule.

I'm changing mine at 1000 miles for the 1st go round. Those breakin metals have to go somewhere. The filter can only hold so much.. Everyone has there own preference.

If you do a lot of in town and short trips, I expect the oil change light will come on much sooner than if you do a lot of highway miles.

Changed mine at just over 1000 miles. After that I generally have changed it every 3-4K or 6 months whichever comes first. I don't drive a lot of miles. Some months it is a lot of short trips (1-3 miles). The light kicked on one time for me after around 2500 miles, which were mostly all in town short trips. I changed the oil.
