Which I still question why Dodge did it that way. The truck already uses a sensor at all four corners to measure wheel speed for ABS and ESP. Seems like they could just get vehicle speed from the same sensors.

Trans shift etc.is also reading from tone ring.Might it be that wheel sensors are not as accurate? Different speed in wheel sensors due to turns, tires loosing traction and such?

I don't know. You would think if it's accurate enough to save your life (ABS & ESP), it would be capable enough to control basic operation. I'm sure there was extensive testing done so they must have a valid reason.

Question fault isolation

The different sensors are probably used for fault detection - where is the break in the loop, etc. I bet that it is also used for safety responses to brakes and other slippage conditions.

yes, either re flash at dealer, OR get a superchips tuner and flash it yourself for the gearing..

Flash for what? There is no 'flash'for gearing. Nothing is needed but the gear change. On tire size thats not a flash either. Its resetting the tire revolutions per mile.

ok, sorry. whatever you want to call it. you need to change it in the computer for gearing and tire size if you want your speedometer etc. to read right,

In another thread it was finally resolved for 09 and later Rams, that gear changes DO NOT require adjustments for the speedometer and that tire height changes DO require speedo adjustment.

This due to the location of the speedo sensor on the axle housing vs on the transmission as was the case for prior years.

BUT....like I said: "I don't know but I've been told..."

One more time.Gearing does NOT require anything other then the gears installed.Only TIRE SIZE needs adjustments.

ok, i was wrong then, i thought the gearing needed to be changed in the cpu...

do you possibly need to change it in the cpu for your trans to work right?

at this point i guess im just wondering if it never needs to be adjusted why superchips would have that adjustment in tuners for 09 rams?
