Default pleased with resonator removal

after debating on putting a muffler on to get some more sound from my hemi sport, i opted to have the rear resonators cut off and stainless pipes welded in. pleasede that removing them made the exhaust actually noticeable on these trucks especially down low in the rpms. spent $90 to have a shop do it as opposed to $250ish for a mufflex or other ss muffler

What size pipes did you have welded in and did you put a chrome tip on it ? How about a pic at least?

I've been thinking about going this route with my '10 sport as well. Just delete the resonators and keep the factory tips. Is it a lot louder? Mufflex, who basically makes a muffler delete, puts theirs at 10+ for Very Aggressive.

they used 2 1/4 i believe, about 18" of it, kept the stock tips the shop picked the truck up and dropped it off, i just swung in to pay them....

i will take pics, sorry guys no video camera but i'll see if anyone has one that i can borrow, it looks very good, just like the factory.

soundwise, IT IS NOT LOUD, i'd say it be like putting DOD24M mufflex muffler on or just a tad less from the videos i've seen on youtube.. it is a noticeably louder through the rpm's but more noticeable under 3500 rpms and actually gives the engine an aggressive sound...

So why do they put resonators on anyway. For 2010 and a recall for 09, the Laramie gets a less aggressive exhaust note. I wonder if you can change that in your order? I can only hear the exhaust in the truck at WOT. Other than that barely a sound. I think a lot of the early build trucks did not get some things but I believe some got other things like extra sound proofing, early builds I also think are the ones that get inspected by JD Power and whatever ones this truck is winning for 09 and 2010. I swear mine is as quiet as any Europeon luxury car and the sound the doors make closing....even though I believe the metal is thinner the door closes with the nice chunk sound not clink or clank, even the back doors. Ihave noticed on other vehicles, front doors close with a solid sound and the backs are tinny. Also I am not experiencing any of these wind noises or rattles or creaks although I see on one of my oil change receipts they fixed an RRT for the creaking seat...that didn't creak but it had to be fixed LOL. The only RRT's I really probably needed were the flashes, oh and way back something to do with the wiper motor.
OOps of topic rant...sorry. Looks like a quality job that pipe is not going anywhere soon.

They put resonators on these Rams to make the MDS changes in and out of 4cyl less annoying.

I don't get why you wouldn't just weld in a muffler and leave the resonatores on. It's half as much welding and costs a little more.

For me, its all Mufflex because I want the ability to change it back if I don't like it, or if I have kids in the near future, or if I want to trade the vehicle in and resell the exhaust.

I like the rear resonators left alone with an aftermarket exhaust. They take some of the crackle out and they smooth out the tone of the exhaust. They especially help with highway drone.

Then why do they put resonators on trucks without MDS?

I did a Magnaflow last weekend and left the rear resonator on the truck, a 2010 CC SLT with a Hemi, the truck only has 500 km's on it...I did not own it 24hrs and changed the muffler...the shop said I could come back and take out the resinator if I wished...but I like the sound at idle, at hiway actually all around...and I still have the MDS working...I actually like the MDS saves me $$$ at the pumps...I got power to spare and the sound to prove it...
