Limited Slip Update
did you step daughter and her husband get it in writing? if it ain't in writing it ain't really binding. when you are talking stuff that they owe you after the sale.
well all i can say is 800 is a good price for it. with the full warranty. so that maybe better then nothing

I'd ask them to split the difference between the factory cost and $800. They should be open to that. If not, tell them they're going to regret their decision.
I agree but the dealership must show a profit on the deal so they will "work" the figures in their favor. Just remember the old saying "If it sounds too good to be true.....".
Team;
Just so everybody know's the dealer GM started at $1200 to install the limited slip. I started at $0 dollars since they are the ones that created this mess. I had done my research this time and estimated the parts to cost about $600 customer list, so dealer cost should be about $450. Hey came down to $1000 and I said I would pay the cost of the LSD as if it were an option (I think $275 or $325). He said I was not being reasonable. So we ended the call with him down to $800 (which I find unacceptable) and I countered with $500 (parts cost). Since the negotiations stalled out at this point, I thanked him for his time and hung up the phone.
I have been thinking about this and the way the dealership (should I say stealership) installed the mud flaps on my vehicle (they were installed incorrectly on the front and they rub everytime I turn), I am not sure I would want them doing differential work as it can require special tools and the tolerences are critical and if not done to spec, the diff will self destruct. Oh well, it looks like it is time to make this more formal and involve Dodge Corporate.

Worked fine for me. Best 2wd truck I've had so far. Towed 1000 miles back from Montana last week, snowing all the way to ND. The ESP worked like a champ, especially up in the pass where the road got really nasty.
Seems like people in the south have been most of the ones who are convinced that they need an LSD.

I have a 2012 Ram Hemi w 355 open diff and snow tires and I hate the way it won't go in 2wd in snow compared to 4wd! It won't get out of its own way never mind anybody else's way. Power gets cut and it drives like a slug till I get both rear wheels out onto dry pavement and can then give it throttle. I find I run it in 4wd just to be able to move away from stop signs lights etc.

Put some weight in the back. You can't expect to have any traction with no weight on your drive wheels. I run 500-700 lbs of sand tubes in mine all winter long.
