Having trouble balancing new tires
Just got a new set of Cooper Zeon ATZ's for the stock 20's. Picked the truck up after having them put on and it had the shakes. Drove it a while longer and it smoothed out. The shakes come and go, mostly in the 60-65 mph range. Any others have this issue or just me. Heard good things about the Zeons. Could one be out of round?
Thanks for any opinions.

Well if I just bought new tires and they vibrated, I would go back. I think I am gonna go with 17 or 18 inch rims when I need tires. get them all at once. Try those balancing beads supposed to be great? I hear they don't work with tpms then I read they do
Who did them, make sure they balanced them usuing the "fingers", on the balancer, I had mine done and it took a young man to tell the rest they were doing it wrong.
mine are glass smoothe, and mine were just the stockers

There is a TSB out for mounting the rims on a balancer. My guess is that this may be what is wrong since it looks as if you have the chrome clad rims. If the rim is not properly centered, you will get a bad balance.

I have the same tires. Had them balanced 3 times and they still aren't perfect. Discount Tire says the tire slips on the rim due to the chrome and the lubricant they use.

you need to get them road force balanced its not the tires had to get mine done i have the zeons and love them they balanced with less weight than the factory not so goodyears and i have over 30,000 miles on them and they have alot of tread left.it seems the larger rims are the culprit had 17s and 18s on other trucks no problems but anything with 20s or larger seem to have the problem whether it be a truck or car, they are fine up to about 60 or so and you start to feel the shimmy at 70-75 you really feel it also i know alot of manufacturers are road force balancing at the factory
A tire doesn't go in and out of balance. Once out it should ALWAYS vibrate at the same speed. I have had tires with cord separation that did go in and out of balance.
Have them balance one at a time. Replace the newely balanced wheel, and go for a spin. If the vibration is still there go to a second tire, and so on. If the problem still exists replace one tire at a time with your spare. When the vibration disappears you got the bummer.

Simple to check. Mark the tire with chalk and see if it moves. Put your mark at the valve stem.
