trying to find out which fuse
my 12v power outlet on my center console, right next to the shifter dosnt work
does anybody know exactly which fuse powers this outlet
went to the dealer with this issue along with others and they told me if they find the fuse at fault then they would charge me $40 plus the cost of the fuse $3 so i figure i can check the fuse myself
Thanks in advance

step one: find new dealer
step two: check owner's manual - if you didn't get one (ie 2010) try this URL:

I am having the same problem. The fuse is under the hood and I think it is 28 or something like that. Anyway I swapped out fuses and it popped immediately. So I went from a 20 to a 25 amp fuse and it did the same thing. To me it sounds like a possible recall issue. When I bring it in for the next oil change I am going to have them look into it further. I do not think they will charge me to fix it since I am on vehicle 3 with the same dealer. However, I would think that even a fuse would be covered under warranty. I thought that is what bumper to bumper meant. Anyway if the dealer is messing around with you talk to the service manager and remind him/her that you just bought a 40K truck from them and it should be right. You wouldn't beleive what a service manager will do to keep a loyal customer happy. I got $1000 dollars worth of glass and body work done for free.
One of those cig lighters as you call them have to have the key on before it works, I don't remember which one but if you are trying it without the key on try it with and see. Okay got my wife out there trying them all to see which one it is and yes the one next to the shifter has to have the truck running or key on.
Check the pic below. Look for the button in the top row immediately right of the warning flasher button (red triangles). That is the on/off switch for the AC outlet on the dash. Of course, if the fuse is actually blowing then this isn't the issue.

There is a picture of a key on the outlet cap. That means you have to have the key in the ON position for that outlet to work. If you want an always hot outlet, use the one on the top shelf of the console lid.

If one of my kids had been there I would have told them to go out and check the 12v plug. LOL
Go back to first post he is not talking about he 120V plug he is talking 12v right in that indentation in the center right next to the shifter. That one has to have the key on to work, the one on the back off the center console and the one inside the console don't need the key on I believe. I am not sure why this is
. Also trying higher fuses than required is like what my dad used to do if a fuse blew roll up some tin foil or cig paper and make that the fuse till the fuse box in his Chevy station wagon caught fire on our way home from Chatham On to Windsor, On . I was pissed cuz I was sipping my orange crush to make it last all the way home, he used it to put out the fire. smelled nice.
