4.7 or 5.7 engine and why?
I got my truck because I fell in love with the color and it so happened to have the Hemi engine in it. Also, I got a pretty good deal for it and also got the Hemi amount back from a promotion or something.
For me I would ALWAYS choose the HEMI if it was the price range that I wanted. However, for me I got my truck with an 8' bed and a 3.92 rear end and 4x4 with the 4.7 for the same price as a truck with a HEMI 2x4, short 6' bed and normal 3.55 rear end...
Although the thought crossed my mind to get the Hemi, I went with the more practical one because I NEEDED 4 wheel drive and an 8' bed for the same price...
The mileage on the Hemi vs my truck are the SAME using 87 fuel.

The 4.7L is cheaper for the customer, but in actuality the 5.7L is cheaper for Chrysler to make. The 4.7L is built at Mack Avenue Engine Plant I in Detroit, MI and the Hemi is built in Mexico. The 4.7L does get better mileage in the EPA's fuel economy test and is a flex fuel certified engine. These both help Chrysler reach its CAFE targets mandated by your friendly and beloved federal government.
