Default Garage Height

Hi Fellas, long time lurker, rare poster. I was wondering how how tall a parking garage ceiling has to be for you to feel comfortable pulling in? I have a 2010 TRXx4. I did my own measurement and it looks to be 75 3/4 inches tall. Most parking garages I see around are 6'6 (78 inches). In theory I've got two inches of clearance, but that seems a little scary to me. My home garage is only 80 inches high and I do fine in there, but there's no speed bumps either. What do you guys think?

I been in 6'6", or as you mentioned, 78. Have not heard it hit yet Everytime you come to a low beam you look like you are going to hit, but you pass by without issue. Just do hot rod around, you hit a bump and jump in the air....

I just bought my used 2009 1500 SLT after driving around a lifted 2001 1500 that didn't even come close to fitting in parking garages. Granted the '09 comes close to the ceilings, I still find myself ducking in the driver seat hoping that the truck's suspension follows suit. haha.

I just made it to be anything under 7' I just don't go in. Honestly I don't trust those bars to the full extent. Knowing the engineers these days I expect that they have not measured EVERY ceiling height. Everything looks good on paper but the actual height could differ. I'm just a safe freak because I know if I damage it its all at my own risk. But to me 4 inches is not a sufficient space cushion...

X2, I don't trust some of the engineers these days. There are great engineers then engineers who just don't flat out give a #$@#. I play it safe and walk the extra 2 mins if that and park elsewhere

I went into a 6' 8". At one point, the bar was 2mm from my roof. Yikes!

I'm always amazed at the people who swing the sign rather briskly, as they scrape under it - then get out, absolutely totally amazed, as their top is wedged under the ceiling....... I've seen it happen a handfull of times, at a local parking garage we frequent

That sounds like it can be JUST as amusing as sitting at the boat launch on a Saturday during summer months!
